General terms
A valid driver’s license and an identity document are a prerequisite for renting an Avis Campers motorhome. The tenant must be at least 25 years old. If you want to rent a vehicle on behalf of a company, the contract must be signed by a member of the company’s board or an authorized person, presenting the appropriate authorizations (power of attorney, letter of guarantee, copy of the B card of the business register).
Avis issues a motorhome that has been towed, cleaned and is in good technical condition. It is the responsibility of the renter to carefully inspect and fix all damages and deficiencies when receiving the vehicle, otherwise he may remain responsible for previous damages. The lessor is not directly or indirectly responsible for damages that may result from a technical failure of the motorhome and may cause the trip to be interrupted or delayed.
If you return the motorhome with a half or empty fuel tank, an additional fee of 2.5 euros will be charged for each missing liter of fuel. The lessor has the right to deduct these amounts from the deposit. Damages caused by improperly refueled fuel are covered by the renter.
Booking, deposit and payment
The booking fee must be paid within 3 days of receipt of written confirmation or invoice. The renter can make changes to the reservation up to 60 days before the start of the rental period, provided that the lessor can offer an alternative option and if the alternative reservation corresponds in value to the original one. The booking fee is non-refundable but will be included in the rental fee. The booking fee is not refunded if the booking is canceled by the customer.
The security deposit is 900 euros, which will be returned to the tenant at the end of the rental period if there are no claims. The rest of the rental fee and deposit must be paid before the start of the rental period according to the deadlines agreed in the rental agreement.
The rental price includes maintenance, mandatory traffic insurance and comprehensive insurance, but does not include the cost of fuel.
Insurance and liability to third parties
The motorhome rental price includes comprehensive insurance (accident, vandalism) with a deductible of 900 euros and theft insurance with a deductible of 15% of the cost of the vehicle. Tires and rims are not insured and the renter is fully responsible for their damage. If the vehicle is stolen, the renter must provide the car keys and registration certificate, and the theft must also be registered with the police. In the event of a traffic accident, the lessee must notify the police and insurance and also inform the lessor. The procedural cost of rental damages is 50 euros.
All fines and other claims arising from the activities of the renter or car users are the responsibility of the renter. The processing fee for traffic fines is 35 euros.
Delivery and return of the vehicle, rental period
The rental period starts on the first rental day and ends on the last rental day no later than 11:00 a.m., unless otherwise agreed. An additional rental day’s fee applies for delays of more than 1 hour.
The vehicle must be returned with a clean interior, the waste water tank and toilet cartridge emptied. If the vehicle is returned without cleaning and or without emptying the WC cartridge, there is a 200 vehicle cleaning fee. Smoking in the motorhome is strictly prohibited, and a fine of 200 euros is imposed in case of violation.
Outdoor laundry is included in the rental price and is performed by the lessor. When handing over and returning the car, the parties sign the handover and return act. The lessor has the right to submit claims later if hidden defects are discovered that could not be noticed during the initial inspection. Handing over or returning the vehicle outside of working hours and on weekends is not possible.
Equipment
During the winter period, motorhomes are equipped with winter tires. All motorhomes are equipped with GPS devices so that the lessor can monitor the use of the vehicle. Additional equipment is provided according to the terms agreed in the rental agreement.
Validity of the contract
Every signed contract is binding, even if the tenant does not read it thoroughly. We recommend that you always read the terms of the contract thoroughly before signing. If there are claims, they must be resolved through the courts.
Driving outside of Latvia
The renter may not drive the motorhome outside the European Union, except in Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein or Andorra. The renter must inform the destination of his trip, which is indicated on the rental contract. If you want to travel to other countries, you must notify the rental company in writing at least 14 days before the start of the rental period.
More detailed General Terms and Conditions are set out in the rental agreement concluded between the lessor and the lessee.
