Which car to choose? Avis statistics on the most popular car types for companies
Modern electric cars, hybrids or maybe SUVs – which cars are most often chosen by Latvian companies? “Avis has compiled statistics on the most popular car models – it might help you to understand which car to choose for your business. Read on and find out more!
What determines the choice of car?
Company “Daina Kantāne, Head of Leasing at Avis, reveals the main criteria that companies use to decide which car to choose for full-service leasing. These factors include:
- fuel consumption and CO2 emissions – affect fuel costs and the level of company car taxes;
- the size of the car – depending on what you plan to use it for;
- the level of safety and equipment offered;
- the specifics of a particular business area, such as different road conditions to reach customers or the need to transport goods.
What do the statistics reveal?
“Statistics on the choice of cars for full-service leasing compiled by Avis show that companies in the wholesale sector prefer passenger cars 35% of the time and SUVs 20% of the time. The situation is different in the retail sector, where almost half of the companies have a fleet of commercial vehicles, including vans and MPVs.
This difference is due to the fact that in the retail sector, employees often travel in the same car as the goods they transport. The car must therefore meet both the requirements for movement and for freight transport. The statistics also show that 27% of companies in this sector choose passenger cars and 20% choose hybrid cars. The choice of such cars is generally on an upward trend.
For construction companies, the SUV is the undisputed choice – 67% of companies in the sector prefer it. This is due to the variety of roads and driving conditions encountered in the construction sector. Far fewer construction workers drive a commercial vehicle (19%) or a passenger car (14%).
Statistics show that in the customer service sector, including restaurant service, the most common choice is a car or SUV. However, 17% of companies in this sector also choose a commercial vehicle and 14% a multi-purpose vehicle.
Commercial transport is preferred by 59% of companies operating in the waste management sector. Almost half of pharmaceutical companies choose light vehicles, with fewer opting for estate cars (20%), SUVs (16%) or hybrid cars (12%).
What are the most popular areas for electric cars?
An important trend, also reflected in the Avis statistics, is the preference for more environmentally friendly cars. Companies are increasingly thinking about how to meet EU climate neutrality targets and reduceCO2 emissions. These considerations are becoming increasingly important when companies decide which car to choose. One of the most popular models is the VW ID. 3, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Yaris Cross and VW T-Cross.
The statistics we have compiled show that the most popular choice of electric cars in Latvia is made by freight transport companies (13%). It also shows that data processing companies, including information technology, (12%) and manufacturing companies (11%) are choosing electric cars.
In the parcel sector, the preference is for cars and hybrids (25%), and in data processing companies for SUVs (35%) and multi-purpose vehicles. Manufacturing companies prefer SUVs 31% of the time and commercial vehicles 29% of the time.
